About the GM

Roleplaying Experience:

Welcome to this little page about me. I'm not incredibly good at this sort of thing, go see Josh's at the USS Outreach for something nice, detailed, and well written, but I'm going to give this a shot.

I have a fair bit of experience in role-playing and PBeMs. Unfortunately, I haven't kept many keepsakes of old simms, so I can't give any dates. Heck, I don't even remember when I joined the Malinche. But I know my characters.

My first PBeM was quite awhile ago, several years at least. That simm folded after I'd only joined a month or so before hand. It was a small ship under the ever so common name of 'Yorktown.' I played as a security officer (a role I would take on quite frequently in the years to come) and I enjoyed my too brief stay. Unsatisfied at the brief experience, I decided to experiment some more. I looked up another ship, the USS Patriot. That folded also, but after I'd already left. That ship, unfortunately, almost ruined my experience with PBeMs and general. The Captain there showed me that while it's often fun watching Kirk on television, it certainly isn't entertaining to be under a Captain who can survive a two story fall, break both legs, and STILL get to the transporter room to save the ship for the fifth time running (no joke, that happened.)

After that, for maybe a year, I lost interest completely. PBeMs weren't delivering any enjoyment to me. I played around a little with some very small swords and sorcery style simms, but those failed to catch my interest. Later on I tried to go back into Federation simms several times, always with the same horrible results.

I finally returned to active interest in PBeMs aboard the Kahless' Blade, a Klingon battlecruiser run by a wonderful Captain and a crew were loved Klingon culture. I enjoyed myself immensely. I began as Flight Leader for a little group of fighter class ships attached to the vessel. The ship offered many wonderful opportunities for met to develop my character and myself. I eventually was presented the Captaincy of the newest Klingon ship in our little group, a Vor'cha class attack cruiser. A dedicated group of simmers and myself kept a lively story going until the head of the group left due to personal troubles and the group collapsed. I followed the XO of the Kahless' Blade into another simm, the USS Cousteau, where I played the mentally unstable Chief of Security. That too folded, but not until we had completed several missions and we had developed into a tightly knit group. It was quite a lot of fun.

I followed a member of the Cousteau to another simm, this time playing as a Maquis. I played a Romulan deserter and enjoyed myself immensely. While this was going on, I joined up with the previous leader of the Kahless' Blade simm in a Mechwarrior style simm called "Mercs Inc." I played an often inebriated Russian mech pilot and played as the XO for quite awhile. The head of the simm eventually left again, although the simm went on. I left shortly after. There were too many newly implemented rules. I had declined the leadership position and the new CO liked a stricter simm.

I joined the Malinche at this point as Lt. jg. Ha'gowT, assistant Chief of Security. I've stayed with this character throughout my entire time here as he moved to Chief of Security, Executive Officer, and now, it appears, Captain. While I joined the Malinche, the first really stable simm I'd seen, I also joined the USS Dreadnought and, later, the USS Athena. I also played Chief of Security on the Dreadnought, but played as an Assistant Engineer on the Athena. I'm still on the Dreadnought as Chief of Security and the Athena, unfortunately, folded. During this period I was also Chief of Engineering aboard Josh's now dead Starbase 51. I loved all these experiences. My latest position onboard a ship has been Major Haltin onboard the USS Outreach, also run by Josh.

Now, obviously, I've left out several simms (I can't even remember half of them, but others just weren't really important) but I think this gives a good sample of my experiences.

Personal Statement:

I think role-playing and simming is wonderful hobby and pastime. I still love it and encounter new ideas everyday. I strongly disagree with, what I like to term, the 'Roleplaying is the Devil' style of thinking, but this is also not something to take too seriously. I'm here to write, enjoy myself, and help others enjoy themselves. I'm not here to take part in a power struggle, or take part in a private little email war with someone. Neither should any respectable player onboard a PBeM starship. This is always supposed to be interesting and fun, people often forget that.
