Stuart and his family come from old London. The rest of his family have always been bakers but he was a younger child and did not want to bake. He decided to do something with his life and joined Starfleet as an enlisted person.

Woodgate is very headstrong, because he joined starfleet he got cut out of his family, his father in particular isn't speaking to him. After a recent experience with a group of parasitic creatures dubbed 'The Hollowed' Woodgate has also become a strong advocate for the storage of phasers in every room onboard ship. Especially in the science labs and Woodgate's quarters.
